Question #213

Which of the following cranial nerves is not paired correctly with the muscle it innervates?

The optic nerve does not innervate any muscles.

The oculomotor nerve innervates:

  • medial rectus
  • superior rectus
  • inferior rectus
  • inferior oblique
  • levator palpebrae superioris

The trochlear nerve innervates superior oblique

The abducent nerve innervates lateral rectus (remember LR6SO4)

In addition the oculomotor nerve carries parasympathetic fibres which innervate the ciliary and pupillae muscles
