Question #223

Which nerve crosses the posterior triangle of the neck?

The vagus nerve runs in the carotid sheath which runs in the anterior triangle. The sympathetic chain runs just deep to this structure.

The recurrent laryngeal branch of the vagus nerve runs in the groove between the larynx and oesophagus.

The upper trunk of the brachial plexus can be found in the posterior triangle, however, unlike the accessory nerve it does not cross it.
