The greater sciatic foramen is divided in two by piriformis which passes through it.

  • O - nerve to Obturator internus
  • P - Posterior cutaneous nerve of the thigh
  • S - Sciatic nerve
  • I - Inferior gluteal nerve and vessels
  • Q - nerve to Quadratus femoris

Structures that pass through the greater sciatic foramen above piriformis are the superior gluteal nerve and vessels.

N.B. There is no internal pudendal nerve.
