Anosmia is the loss of the sense of smell, it occurs following damage of the olfactory nerves, bulb or tract, the frontal lobe or even obstruction of the airflow through the nasal cavity (as occurs with a common cold or sinusitis).
CSF leaking from the nasal cavity (rhinorrhoea) suggests an interruption of the arachnoid layer overlying the nasal cavity. This can occur with a fracture of the cribriform plate of the ethmoid bone damaging the olfactory nerves with their surrounding meningeal layers.
CSF otorrhoea is leaking of cerebrospinal fluid from the ear cavity.
