Question #234
Fibularis longus can be considered as the antagonist of tibialis anterior. As it runs along its course it grooves one of the tarsal bones, which one?
Fibularis longus (also known as peroneus longus) is found in the lateral compartment of the leg. It arises from the lateral surface of the fibula and inserts into the medial cuneiform and the base of the first metatarsal. Along its course it runs posterior to the lateral malleolus, grooves the cuboid and crosses the sole of the foot. It plantarflexes and everts the foot.
