Question #412
Triceps brachii
Triceps brachii has three heads:
- Long head - arising from the infraglenoid tubercle of the scapula
- Lateral head - arising from the lateral humeral shaft
- Medial head - arising from the medial humeral shaft (also known as the deep head)
It extends the elbow joint and helps to stabilise the humeral head during abduction of the shoulder.
It is innervated by the radial nerve before it forms the posterior interosseous nerve.
