Question #464

Which of the following muscles attach to the ischial tuberosity

The hamstring group of muscles arise from the ischial tuberosity.

This includes:

  • Semimembranosus
  • Semitendinosus
  • Biceps femoris (long head only)

In addition, adductor magnus has fibres which arise from the ischial tuberosity (the hamstring portion).

All of the above are supplied by the tibial branch of the sciatic nerve.
