Question #507

Considering olfaction

The special sense olfaction is carried on olfactory nerves from the olfactory mucosa lining the upper posterolateral nasal cavity. The olfactory nerves form about 20 trunks that pass through the cribriform plate and synapse at the olfactory bulb.

The olfactory bulb lies lateral to the crista galli and medial to the optic nerve (before in enters the optic canal).
